Hi, I can’t seem to get my docker to work after the upgrade. Can some kind soul point me the right way? I’m a noob at this. Thanks. I’m hosted on DigitalOcean. [38%20PM] Cheers.

Did a reboot. Since last night, the screen is just hanging at the Ubuntu loading screen. :sob: [37%20AM]

Then it’s not a Discourse problem, and likely not a docker problem. It is likely a hardware issue. Networking might be my guess, but this isn’t going to be the place to get help.

Did the post in the suggested “See:” help any? https://meta.discourse.org/t/docker-error-on-bootstrap/13657/18?u=mittineague

Hi guys, I ran it from root. When I tried to rebuild the app, this is the error presented: root@forum:/var/discourse# ./launcher rebuild app /usr/bin/docker: Error response from daemon: OCI runtime create failed: container_linux.go:348: starting container process caused "process_linux.go:297: copying bootstrap data to pipe caused \"write init-p: broken pipe\"": unknown. Your Docker installation is not working correctly See: https://meta.discourse.org/t/docker-error-on-bootstrap/13657/18?u=sam root@forum:/var/discourse# I have tried to remove the docker and then reinstalling it. Same error message as above. Any help would be appreciated.

> root@forum:~# cat /etc/os-release > NAME="Ubuntu" > VERSION="14.04.5 LTS, Trusty Tahr" > ID=ubuntu > ID_LIKE=debian > PRETTY_NAME="Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS" > VERSION_ID="14.04" > HOME_URL="http://www.ubuntu.com/" > root@forum:~# lsb_release -a > No LSB modules are available. > Distributor ID: Ubuntu > Description: Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS > Release: 14.04 > Codename: trusty

If you’re in digital ocean, I’d recommend to install a clean 18.04 and start over. Then restore your backup to the new server. 14. 04 if close to end of life anyway. If you don’t have a backup then you can rsync the discourse directory to the new server and then rebuild. I suspect that digital ocean has a page about rsync. If it’s an emergency that you want to throw money at, I’ll fix it for $300 Redirecting…

Thanks @pfaffman. Happy to have you fix it. I’ll reach out separately via email to you.

Did you look at Troubleshoot docker installation issues? Are you running as root?

Maybe reboot?
