Hi There! We are currently in the process of migrating our forum to Discourse and I am exploring all these admin features in functionalities. How our community works is that, as soon as members’ application is approved, we create a profile for them first, personalize it, and then send them their log-in details after. I was just wondering. Is there a way that we can manually add users from the backend without the need to invite them first? That way, we can personalize their profile first before we give them access to log-in. Thanks in advance!

There might be a better way through the UI, but it’s possible with the API. Here’s some example code from the Ruby client: examples/create_user.rb 25023c073 $LOAD_PATH.unshift File.expand_path('../../lib', __FILE__) require File.expand_path('../../lib/discourse_api', __FILE__) client = DiscourseApi::Client.new("http://localhost:3000") client.api_key = "YOUR_API_KEY" client.api_username = "YOUR_USERNAME" # create user user = client.create_user( name: "Bruce Wayne", email: "bruce@wayne.com", username: "batman", password: "WhySoSerious" ) # activate user client.activate(user["user_id"])

This might do the trick: [image] Create an admin account from the console Self-Hosting bookmark This guide provides instructions for creating an admin account or granting admin privileges using the console in a self-hosted Discourse installation. person_raising_hand Required user level: System Administrator warning Console access required So you want to create/grant Admin privileges or reset user password from console? Great, let’s get started! This guide will cover the following: Accessing the console Creating a new account with admin privileges Resetting an existin… Just press n when prompted for Do you want to grant Admin privileges to this account? (Y/n).

What kind of personalization do you want to do? The API is probably the best solution.
