Often on one of the instances I help manage. On the Dashboard for discourse you might see Sidekiq jobs failed. In my case this was due to the client not maintaining there SMTP account package.
Doing a search on discourse here there are a few topics regarding Roundcube but nothing that looks helpful.
What about the Roundcube support & forum?
I asked google Gemini AI. So this may help but don’t know.
To set up Roundcube for Discourse Meta as SMTP, you’ll need to configure both Roundcube and Discourse. Here are the steps involved:
Configuring Roundcube
Access Roundcube Settings: Log in to your Roundcube webmail interface and go to “Settings” (usually found in the top right corner).
Open SMTP Settings: Look for the “Outgoing mail (SMTP)” section and click on it.
Enter SMTP Details: Fill in the following information:
Server: The hostname or IP address of your Discourse Meta server.
Port: The SMTP port used by Discourse Meta (usually 25, 465, or 587).
Authentication: Enable authentication and choose the appropriate method (e.g., “Login”).
Username: Your Discourse Meta username.
Password: Your Discourse Meta password.
Encryption: Select the encryption method used by Discourse Meta (e.g., “SSL/TLS”).
Save Changes: Click “Save” to apply the SMTP settings.
Configuring Discourse Meta
Access Discourse Meta Admin: Log in to your Discourse Meta admin panel.
Go to Email Settings: Navigate to the “Email” section.
Configure SMTP:
Host: Enter the hostname or IP address of your SMTP server (the same as you entered in Roundcube).
Port: Enter the SMTP port (same as in Roundcube).
Username: Enter your Discourse Meta username.
Password: Enter your Discourse Meta password.
Enable SSL/TLS: Check this option if you’re using SSL/TLS encryption.
Enable StartTLS: Check this option if you’re using STARTTLS encryption.
Test Email Settings: Click the “Test Email” button to verify that the configuration is correct.
Additional Notes
If you encounter any issues, double-check the SMTP settings in both Roundcube and Discourse Meta to ensure they match.
For more advanced configurations or troubleshooting, refer to the documentation for both Roundcube and Discourse Meta.
If you’re using a firewall, make sure it allows outgoing SMTP traffic on the specified port.
By following these steps, you should be able to successfully set up Roundcube to send emails through Discourse Meta as your SMTP server.
