Ik wil graag informeren naar het probleem van het niet automatisch invullen van de [grid] code

I recently updated to the latest forum system and discovered a great new feature: the addition of the [grid] code. When I drag multiple photos into the text editor, the [grid] code is automatically filled in. This feature was not available before. Previously, displaying multiple photos in a post would make the post unusually long, greatly affecting the visual experience. After discovering the new [grid] code, I found that it allows 2-3 photos to be displayed in a row, appropriately reducing the display size, with the option to enlarge the photos when clicked. This has greatly improved the visual appeal of the forum. However, starting yesterday, I noticed that the [grid] code no longer auto-fills when I edit posts. I would like to know if there is a settings issue causing this problem.

Auto gridding is still in place. You need to upload 3 images or more at once for the automatic tag to apply.

If you just upload 1 image at time you will not get an auto grid.

Possible user setting to disable this is being tracker here: Turning off auto-grid-images?

Yes, this happens if you upload 1 at a time, select all the images and upload them at the same time to get a grid

I apologize for the misunderstanding due to my lack of explanation. As shown in the image, when I drag 5 photos into the text editor at the same time, the [grid] code does not automatically appear.

I see can you try the upload button?

@keegan / @lindsey there may be an edge case here

Hmm, that’s odd, yes there may be an edge-case.

FWIW I tried testing a few scenarios with:

  • uploading 5 images using the upload button
  • uploading 5 images by dragging in 5 photos at the same time
  • uploading 5 images dragging and upload button on edit post
  • uploading images on throttled connection

and auto [grid] is working here on Meta.

What browser are you using? Can you repro here? If you switch to an alternative browser does it also happen?

I am now confident that it may not be an issue with the forum system, but I am still very curious about why this is happening. I have conducted the following tests:

  1. I opened multiple browsers and found that I was unable to automatically populate the grid code.
  2. Using my regular Google Chrome browser, I made posts and discovered that one could automatically populate the grid code while another could not. Since both are Google Chrome browsers with different Google accounts, I conducted a third test.
  3. Under the same Google account, I switched between forum accounts to make posts. I confirmed that if I use a forum administrator account, the grid code cannot be invoked. However, if I use any other account, the grid code can be automatically populated.
  4. To confirm whether this phenomenon was caused by browser caching, I logged out of the forum administrator account. In another Google account that could invoke the grid code, I logged out and switched to the forum administrator account. After switching, the grid code could not be invoked again in the forum that previously allowed it.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue? I can confirm that only my admin account is encountering this problem. It seems that some settings are causing this issue. How can I adjust the settings to restore the [grid] code?

A bit of a late contribution, but saw this while browsing some Related Topics and thought it may be connected:

Does the auto-grid function for you now that the locale issue has been fixed?

Nope it still ignores it if the contribution is written with the wysiwyg editor. I’m on the latest update.

Ahh, I was asking @wenqin if their issue was the same as yours (and hopefully resolved :crossed_fingers: )

Unfortunately I don’t think the [grid] code is supported yet in the RTE composer.

Oops my bad, too happy it might have been fixed so I typed too fast!

@wenqin I think there have been some changes recently that might have fixed your issue. Can you check and confirm that it is working for you now?

My website was newly built a month ago because the server provider went out of business. It now has the latest plugin version installed, but unfortunately, [grid] needs to be entered by me.

What plugin are you referring to? Grid images is part of course Discourse. Can you check that the Experimental auto grid images is enabled? It is working here and on my personal site.

I don’t know what the highlighted buttons in your editor menu are from - I haven’t ever seen those before.

That component adding the buttons has been tagged as deprecated for a while
