Something missing from Discobot tutorial?

AI-generated summary

In a support thread titled ‘Something missing from Discobot tutorial?’, user tknospdr reports that after completing the Discobot tutorial, the expected certificate of completion appears as a blank white space. Others, including Mittens and awesomerobot, confirm it should display a certificate and suggest the issue may stem from an iframe or asset loading problem. tknospdr verifies the certificate URL works when opened directly, indicating the resource exists. StryGuardian speculates the issue may relate to PikaPods instances. awesomerobot advises checking browser console and network tabs for errors or HTTP status codes. tknospdr shares a screenshot of console errors, including mixed content issues. Finally, tknospdr resolves the issue by enabling the ‘force HTTPS’ setting, which fixes the certificate display — suggesting the problem was caused by insecure HTTP content being blocked on an HTTPS site. The original cow joke was acknowledged as such by tknospdr.

I went through the entire tutorial, and at the end, the thing I earned appears to be a big white space.
I don’t know, maybe it’s a picture of cows in a pasture, but it’s snowing really hard so I can’t see them…

Any idea why this is blank? Brand new instance install, no plugins or modifications of any kind.

It should be the certificate of completion, not sure if the cow thing is a joke or not.

It should look something like this:

It’s implemented in an iframe so maybe something’s blocking it or the asset isn’t available… if you right click the blank space where it should be, and select inspect you should be able to see an iFrame tag in there. If you copy the URL from the src and paste it into a new browser window, do you get an error or see an image?

Yes, the item in the iframe is there:

I see a fancy shmancy certificate in a new tab. So how to I troubleshoot?

Yes… it was a joke.

Is this an instance on PikaPods by any chance? I spun up an instance there before and I believe something isn’t quite right with their packaged install, because this same issue was present.

hmm well the good news is that it exists and you can access it directly… perhaps this is an iframe issue…

if you go to the post, right click inspect again, and view the console tab… are there errors there?

if you go to the network tab, refresh the page, and search for certificate… is its status 200? or something else?

ah, my mistake.

I see this:

I did an ‘inspect element’ on a missing logo from another thread I opened on here, and found a bunch of lines referring to trying to serve http content from https pages, so I turned on the ‘force https’ setting and my certificate showed up.
