Remove tag from "Other Tags" group

I have this how-to tag limited to a certain Category:

And the group is set properly:

But in the Tags window, it also shows under “Other Tags”, which seems to be just duplicating what is already above it:

Is there a way to just show it under “Help & Tips”?

Is there the possibility the tag was already used in a different category before you restricted it to a specific category? That might be worth checking because that can cause this situation.

Here’s what I just tested:

  • Created a tag Group with a tag abc123 (this tag was created in that panel, not via a new topic, so it wasn’t used anywhere else before)

  • Went to a category and added the group to the restricted groups:

  • Created a new topic, added the tag, and when I refreshed the list of tags, it was only visible under Other Tags, not the “The Community” category:

  • Then I tried to add the tag to the restricted tags, and that added it to the “The Community” section, but kept it in the Other Tags as well:

Then I tried to create a new tag via the composer, using the previous topic I created, directly into the “The Community” category. When to the panel and restricted that new tag to that category as well. That puts it in both sections automatically:

So, it seems that what you mentioned is not the issue here.

Yup, something fishy going on for sure. I’ve done some testing here too and yeah, seems a bit buggy. Thanks for reporting, I’ll let you know when it’s sorted.

I have highlighted it internally, but it doesn’t look like we’ll get to solving it right away. The tag system is quite complicated.

I’m moving this to the Contribute > Bug category to track it further.

Thank you.

It’s not a big deal, but it would make everything more organized.
Since tags are not something that keep changing, maybe for the time being I can hide it with CSS.
