Would this work for a community of women over 45+

Hi. I really love that this is a community found on AI search.
My question is would this work for a coach who works with women to increase their confidence to find a new chapter of love in their lives? I wonder if Discourse would be welcoming for coaches who specialize in helping women gain confidence in the dating and love world

Hi Nicole and welcome to our community!

This site, meta.discourse.org, is for people who host their communities using Discourse and help one another with configuring and maintaining their sites. We are of course welcoming to everyone but this is not a dating site.

You can use Discourse yourself to host a community. It would be perfectly well suited for a dating site! Take a look at https://discourse.org for details on how you can spin up a trial for free.

Hi Tobias. Thanks for getting back to me. I wanted to ask if this platform would be a great place for a coach who helps women over 45+ looking for love. I have a client and I’ve recommended Discourse to her for the sole reason that it is searchable and indexable on the AI search engines. This makes complete sense for women looking for help finding their soul mate.

But, I want to make sure I’m building this correctly and on the right platform for her so she can see some growth.

Thank you for getting back to me. I will be creating my own group on here too, if I think it will help me attract more clients. If you have any thoughts on this dating community I would appreciate your advice. Thank you again for getting back to me. Nicole Jolie

Hi Nicole! Thanks for clarifying. I moved your topic into Community where I think it fits quite nicely!

Others can jump in but I’d say yes your client would be happy building their community using Discourse. As first step, I’d suggest you get acquainted with some other communities built using Discourse, which you can explore at https://discover.discourse.com/.

You can also spin up a free trial on our hosting at https://discourse.org to see how it feels setting up a site.

Wow. Thank you. I feel like I’ve made a friend today. I really appreciate you took this into consideration because I am new to your platform. The point is to get the AI searchability for her and help her have a WIN. She has been at this for 16 years and is a GenX’er and doesn’t quite understand the power of AI search, but definitely is very interested and wants to learn.

I am invested in her success, and am not charging her anywhere near what some of these people charge. I’m doing this because I, like her, want a win. Appreciate all the help and the nice messages. I did not use AI to write that, so that’s probably the reason you didn’t get the full monte on it.. See you in the Community.

Hey Nicole, just jumping in because I feel some confusion between “Discourse the tool” and “A community using Discourse”. It’s not like facebook or other social platforms where creating an account lets you step into a pre-existing social space. When you create your group (or community) using Discourse, whether it’s self-hosted or by signing up for an account on discourse.com, it’s as if you have received an empty conference venue, or the keys to the restaurant. So you (or is it your client?) then need to design the community in the Discourse tool and also get people to join and take part. It’s quite different from, for example, creating a facebook group, where you can reasonably expect people to stumble upon it and join because they’re already using facebook.

So, to answer your initial question: Discourse can definitely work for the kind of community you’re describing, but it will all depend on how the “community manager” (you? your client?) sets up the platform, manages to convince people to join it, and then manage the growth of the community as more people get on board.
Hope this helps!
