Chat quote buttons covered by composer

I tested the UI problem below in the Foundation theme, but it likely appears in Horizon as well.

To reproduce:

  1. Open the composer
  2. Switch to full screen chat.
  3. Use the select UI to quote messages in a topic.
  4. Observe that the buttons for quoting in topic are covered by the composer.

Desired

It should be possible to quote in topic with the editor open. This is important because that’s the easiest way to quote chat messages in response to an existing discussion.

Workaround

Switching chat away from fullscreen works.

Thanks, one of our designers will have a look. We really need a tiny more margin when composer is minimized (it even just stops us now from chatting)

One additional improvement we made recently is making it super easy to just dismiss a draft and get back to it. The X closes it and then you can reach the draft from your drafts.

That said, I find it compelling to have a draft going while I am chatting so I would love to restore this functionality on both horizon and foundation.

Hello @Anton_Akhmerov, there is a fix as of 2025-11-21T23:00:00Z.

When your Discourse version is next updated, this change [a51ad87] will be in place, resolving the issues of the expanded/collapsed composer overlapping with the full screen chat and buttons.
