How to change topic timestamps?

AI-generated summary

wisewords reports an issue where the “change topic timestamp” feature is missing from their testing topic, despite holding site admin privileges. They sought assistance after the Discourse helper bot confirmed that admin rights are required.

Ethsim2 clarifies that while an admin can use the reset-bump-date command for the original post (OP), changing timestamps for subsequent posts requires CLI access. JammyDodger suggests that the user may be looking in the wrong menu, pointing out that the option resides in the topic wrench menu rather than the post wrench menu. Ethsim2 confirms this, noting that the topic date and reset-bump-date options are accessible via the topic wrench icon.

hello!

I’ve seen one of the admins being able to change topic timestamps, and i’ve tried to do this in a testing topic.

however, the topic timestamp does not show the “change topic timestamp” feature.

i’ve asked the discourse helper bot, and it said that i needed to be a site admin to change topic timestamps (although, i am a site admin).

i would like help with this. thanks!

you need to be an admin on the Discourse Forum to reset-bump-date of a post that opens a topic (OP)

if you want to change timestamps of subsequent posts that must be done via CLI

It looks like you’re in the post wrench menu and not the topic wrench menu. The change timestamp option should be in there.

the topic / OP date was found in the topic wrench icon for me, aswell as reset-bump-date
