Which categories are docs?

AI-generated summary

The discussion revolves around identifying which categories on Meta are considered documentation. Moin initially assumed Documentation and #community-wiki were the only doc categories but noticed ux and Development also appeared in searches with in:docs, which is confusing since these categories are not typically seen as documentation. tobiaseigen confirms the issue, noting that ux and Development have index tops set, which likely causes them to be included in in:docs searches. Moin clarifies the issue existed as early as November 8th, and later Moin reports that in:docs now includes topics from Product Support, further complicating the situation.

Would someone tell me which categories here on Meta are docs? I assumed it were Documentation and Wiki with their subcategories, but it seems Contribute > UX is documentation too. Topics in Contribute > UX are bumped when the first post is edited. This feels quite unexpected and confusing. I can also find topics when I search for “in:docs Contribute > UX” or “in:docs Development”. So are Contribute > UX and Development documentation too? Maybe it will be easier to understand why topics bump once I understand which categories are docs.

By the way, additional doc categories also mean that “in:docs” no longer works to search exclusively in the documentation.

Hmm well spotted, Moin! I looked at the category settings for Contribute > UX and Development and indeed there is an index top specified for those categories. I’ve removed those for now and will check with my colleagues to see if I can find out what happened there and when.

All I can say is that it was already like that on the 8th of November.

Can someone take a look at this again? Today searching for in:docs returns lots of topics from Support. I don’t think I noticed Support in the results 3 weeks ago.
