When I log in and sign in, it literally redirects me to www.example.com
Even the logo has that domain:

You mean it redirects to example.com (as in, that exact URL)? Could you send a link to your forum if possible?
Did you connect your VPS IP address to your domain correctly?

Your forum is running on http and on a port. Are you doing a standard install?
I will solve the port and ssl later when i get fix the redirection that has the forum. You can try. Try to créate an account.

It does. I tried editing the url back to that of your forum, but it still did not send an activation email. Is this a standard install that you followed from the official instructions? Did you setup email? Thanks.
You will not fix anything until your using https and standard ports. Discourse works only on standard ports. Discourse requires https.
