Fails to send email if 2 emoji in title (warning would be helpful)

I have sent emails via automation with one emoji in the title successfully.

I recently added a second emoji for a message. That message never gets sent. Took me a while to notice.

In attempting to send the message manually, I was given a very helpful warning along the lines of “cannot send message with 2 emoji in title”.

I understand why this kind of warning wouldn’t be present before an attempted automation, but it would be very helpful if this was explicitly mentioned on the automation interface rather than simply failing and leaving users guessing why.

Yeah absolutely agree.

We have some tracking here, but I think it would be super nice to have something like:

87 today
(12 recent errors ← clickable)

Just confirming though, were there any errors in /logs about the problem?

I’ve been running Discourse for a month now (new user, hosted service) and this is the first I’ve heard of the email logs. Apparently I’m blind.

And no. There’s a lot of data in there currently, but I could not find any reference to the ~40 automated messages that did not go out due to the double emoji in the subject.

It’s possible I’m missing them. I can do a specific test for it later if necessary.

Oh no not in the email logs, if it would be anywhere it would be in https://yoursite/logs which is where all the system logs live.

I checked and was unable to identify any line that seemed to specifically reference that error.

Would it help if I specifically tried to generate the issue to 100% confirm whether it shows up in /logs or not?
