Sitemap issue

I don’t know if it’s a bug or if I misconfigured the sitemap, but I keep getting an error and I can’t fix it.

When I submit my sitemap (https://join-nexus.ovh/sitemap.xml)

I get an error, screenshot below, Google cannot retrieve the sitemap and says the type is unknown.

I tested:

lots of curl commands which all return 200 - Google can access the sitemap
a sitemap validator that checks if my sitemap is valid, which it is https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html
removing and re-adding my Sitemap changes nothing
using alternative sitemaps (https://join-nexus.ovh/sitemap_1.xml, https://join-nexus.ovh/sitemap_recent.xml) but that doesn’t work either, same error

I don’t know how to solve this problem, especially since the sitemap is a super important feature.

I can still index the links individually by hand and Google indexes them, I really don’t understand.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If you click into the sitemap info, does that provide any more details about the error?

GSC can be super finicky with new sitemaps. Honestly, if your curl commands are returning a 200 and external validators say it’s green, it’s likely just a reporting lag on Google’s end. I’ve seen this ‘unknown type’ error pop up before only to disappear on its own after a few days. Maybe give it 48-72 hours before changing anything?

Hello everyone, Update, I found a way to add the sitemap but it require to really think outside the box

I had to create an external sitemap on this website

Once this sitemap was indexed by google on its own domain on the search console

I got this message on my own domain on the search console

So google started indexing the pages

My sitemaps still don’t work from my own domain but it may be because of my .ovh domain name

I hope this helps
