On someone elses profile, you either get this button (when there are no invites)
or this button (if there are invites)
Both buttons will create an invite, for your own user.
Expected: you only see the invite creation buttons on your own profile

FWIW, I think there is value in being able to create an invitation on someoneās behalf. I do this for our Customer Success reps who arenāt Discourse-savvy but want to invite their customers to the community.
yes but the functionality doesnāt work that way. it sends the invite from the senderās account, not the userās profile. it is no different than sending an invite from your own profile.
when the invitee gets the invite, itās from the person who pushed the button on the profile, not the profile user. the profile user does not even know about the invite, so itās not really on their behalf (they donāt get notifications or anything).
it does feel odd to me from a UX perspective to have an invite button on other members profiles that doesnāt actually have anything to do with those users.
Completely agree! This has always irked me, but never quite to the threshold of posting about it - so thank you @RGJ for articulating it.
Yeah this should be hidden, creating invites on the behalf of others is a reasonable feature request, but as mentioned we donāt have that implemented.
Iāve got a fix in the works to hide the button
