Badge multiple wording - "Yeah, but how many do _I_ have?"

AI-generated summary

ganncamp reported a UX issue where the badge count on the instance-wide list was ambiguous, leading users to believe it represented the total number of badges awarded across the site rather than their personal count. This confusion caused unnecessary scrolling to find the individual badge statistics.

zogstrip acknowledged the feedback and implemented changes to clarify the wording. The badge page will now display “N awarded” when viewing the list for all users, and “Earned N times” when filtering to a specific username. Additionally, zogstrip noted that when filtering by a specific username, all displayed data is now sourced exclusively from that user, preventing mixed data from appearing. These changes were addressed in pull request 44494 and pull request 44495.

Reading that award count, I assumed it was instance-wide, rather than being my personal count.

“Yeah, but how many do I have?”, I wondered.

After much scrolling to see my full page of badges, I finally got to this:

Selection_675

“Ah! That was my count.”

I suggest different wording here.

thanks for the report @ganncamp :+1: when displaying a badges page we’ll show

  • “N awarded” when displaying the list for all users
  • “Earned N times” when filtering to a specific username

and while at it, i made it so when filtering to a specific username, all the data is from that username (instead of being mixed with your own)
