Sidebar-instellingen voor aanstaande evenementen moeten worden bijgewerkt

Since https://github.com/discourse/discourse/pull/28135, the “Upcoming events” link is no longer displayed under “More” in the sidebar, but is instead displayed directly in the Community section.

Therefore, the description of the setting should probably be adjusted accordingly.

It really is defunct now we can customise the sidebar sections so easily. Would be nice to see this tidied up.

I keep this turned off, and add my own so I can control where it goes on the menu.

What do you mean by defunct? Apart from the description saying it’s in the more menu, what is the problem? I think this plugin solves it kind of perfectly:

On the one hand, there is a setting to remove the link, so in case you don’t want it or want to add it at a different place, you don’t need to hide it with CSS.

On the other hand, the plugin adds a link to the sidebar, which means it’s translated into all languages and shown in the user’s interface language. You can’t add translations for custom sidebar links and sections. Even if I could enter them, I cannot translate it with the same quality as the many volunteer translators do.

I hadn’t considered the translation aspects! You make a good point.

It would be better if the link was consistent with the other links in the sidebar - i.e. appeared in the edit menu and was possible to move / edit.

And yes, it is quite jarring when the setting description is incongruent with what it actually does!
