Note how the quote is simply introduced with “stephtara:”.
Once published, it is presented as a topic title with an excerpt. This completely changes the intended focus.
Editor display and published content should match, seems to me?

Generally the source of a quote is valuable context, and a heavily-referenced topic like this is probably kind of an edge case.
I’m not super-familiar with the backend, but I imagine the composer preview just takes the username from the quote shortcode, while the work of generating the rest (title, link, avatar) is saved until the post is published and “baked.”
Though if we just paste a URL to another topic, the preview does render everything – so it must not be a ton of overhead to do that.
Exactly – which makes it quite confusing that it doesn’t “behave properly” in the case of quotes from another topic.
Yes, this is a known issue with our preview rendering, rendering of off topic posts is not correct, it is something we would like to sort out.
It is a bit of complicated change cause we would need to make HTTP requests to find the information missing cause it is not 100% present in the quote block so it makes is a bit harder to fix.
