# A Public topic within a Private Category

I’m looking to make a single topic created in a private category as public (as in everyone, even not-signed-in users). Is there an easy way to do this? Hopefully I’m just missing some documentation somewhere…

Ultimately, I want most of my content to be private while allowing select, unrestricted, teaser access which doesn’t require authentication _while_ keeping my content organized.

Access control is per-category, not per-topic, so you’re out of luck there. Your best bet would be to have a subcategory with open permissions, and put your teaser topics in there.

Please keep in mind that having a subcategory visible while the parent category is not isn’t a supported configuration and causes some UI issues, so you might have to use a standalone category for that 🙂
