# A way to report topic views via API calls

- **Problem:** Topic/web analytics miss traffic from programmatic reads (agents, MCP, integrations). As AI adoption grows, a rising share of topic consumption will be API-driven.
- **Proposal:** Track **API read events** (topic/post JSON GETs, searches) and surface an “API Usage” dashboard alongside Site Traffic. I think it will be relevant especially if a lot of people start using the Discourse MCP server in their development and this causes web traffic to drop by some extent.
