# Ability to Change Username on Discourse ID Forums?

Hello! I have a question about the new Discourse ID forums that are free.
1. Is it possible to change your username on the Discourse ID forums themselves? Because when I looked at it, I wasn’t able to change others usernames, and they stayed the same username as the Discourse ID.

1. It does not seem like you can do that, since I think the `auth_overrides_username` is hidden and cannot be changed, so you’d need to update it on the Discourse ID side (which I believe you can’t).

Thanks for the help on that one! That answer makes sense, although it is annoying that people can’t change their usernames and keep them separate on different forums. Now I just need someone from the Discourse team to do something for my second question.

Some changes were made ~3 weeks ago for this
Users should now be able to change their username or name directly in their user settings on the site (even though it was created with ID)
