# Accessing Personal/Direct Message Chats

In Discourse PMs are not ‘private’ hence the reason we call them Personal Messages. When you say DMs are you referring to PMs or chats (#chat)?

To answer your question, yes, as an admin you are able to view any members PMs.

Just navigate to the users profile page and press ‘Messages’ (red circle)
