Activity times don't automatically update on Topics page

(Brentley Jones) #1

If I sit on the homepage for a length of time I have to refresh to see updated activity times for topics.

More importantly, when new topics arrive, and I get the “Show 10 new topics” blue bar, upon clicking it I get new topics, but all of them have “<1m”. If I refresh the page, I see their real activity.

Maybe there is a bigger bug at play, because I sat on the homepage for 40 minutes, and didn’t see a single update. Upon refresh I saw a topic had a new post, with activity of 20 minutes ago. It also updated my “Unread” tab to have a “(1)” next to it. If I had just sat on the homepage for hours, I wouldn’t have been any the wiser.

P.S.: Chrome Version 25.0.1364.155

Pretty sure this is expected behaviour, and more work on the long polling is on the roadmap.

I’m not so sure. My second post basically states that I don’t see this anymore:

I wait on the front page and never see anything change. With a refresh I see them all. I used to see that blue bar, and then the “<1m” bug, but now I don’t even see that.

Per the text, that stuff is implemented:

  • new posts appear automatically in a topic

  • new topics appear at the top of the list

You talked about updated activity times, that’s not implemented yet. Say if I go in and edit this post while you are reading the topic, you would not see my edit. We have not gotten to this at the moment.

Okay, that’s fine for the activity times. I guess my bigger issue right now is that I no longer see

Unless, I only get to see that for “new” topics and not ones with new replies. Then I concede that there aren’t any bugs at all, since that would also be outside of your stated list.

Edit: To clarify, it does work on my home computer and on my phone, but does not at my work. No blue bar there.

Whatever this was, I believe it is fixed.
