Thanks for the question @panosd. We don’t have any plans to add new features to the plugin right now. We plan to make maintenance improvements over the next year, but no new features.
Following users is a bit counter-intuitive in a forum environment. That’s my take, anyway. I find it very difficult to reconcile the social media “feed that shows posts from followed users” with a forum’s organization around topics. Forum posts usually happen within a context (a topic, a category), and it’s hard to “fit” them in a social media space.
This is possible in Discourse, to be clear. You can add Follows to any tag or category that has federation enabled, and any actor (i.e. user) in ActivityPub can be followed.
