# Add category in Top Menu?

With the [Discourse developer toolbar](https://meta.discourse.org/t/introducing-discourse-developer-toolbar/346215) it looks like there’s no plugin outlet _between_ the drop-down items, if that’s what you mean:

Jay’s component should be able to insert at any green plug location, including before the categories dropdown.

[Custom Top Navigation Links - Theme component](https://meta.discourse.org/t/custom-top-navigation-links/87225) might also be worth a look. At a glance, it seems to use the `extra-nav-item` outlet to append after existing menu items.
