Add English and translated aliases for Emojis

Continuing the discussion from Add alias support to emoji picker:

Our Emoji picker could be greatly improved by adding support for English and translated search aliases. The Unicode Consortium provides all the data we need:

• Emoji List, v11.0
• Emoji character annotations

This feature consists of two parts:

1. Doing all the aliases properly for English
2. Adding support for per locale aliases, so you can type :sourire in French on French sites and get in the window.

I’m putting it on my list.

Just as a note here, we need it to be lazy loaded, this is why I haven’t been doing it yet.

I think it is fine to have alias.en and alias.de etc… files, so we can lazy load per locale.

생각할 수 있는 가장 쉬운 해결책은 번역을 찾을 수 없는 경우 사용자 정의 그룹 이름을 사용하는 것입니다. 제가 발견한 유일한 문제는 그룹 이름이 소문자로 변환되는 것 같습니다.

더 복잡한 해결책은 SiteTextsController와 TranslationOverride가 사용자 정의 이모지 그룹 이름(또는 런타임에 추가해야 하는 기타 사용자 정의 번역)과 함께 작동하도록 만드는 것입니다.

제 환경에서는 emoji_picker가 번역용으로 사용 불가능한 것 같습니다. 또한 테마 헤더에 해당 코드를 붙여넣어도 아무런 효과가 없습니다.

Today I was trying to find the emoji (officially called party popper, but shorted to ) and muscle memory (with MacOS) has me trained to expect finding it by searching for party: [image] However, Discourse’s emoji picker doesn’t find it for the same search term, even if it is part of the emoji name. [Screenshot 2021-08-16 at 11.28.20] Perhaps the emojis official names could be an alias to each emoji (when they differ from the short version) to improve search on the emoji picker…
