Add users to regions in community based on geolocation

Is there a way to automatically add users to a geographic/regional group based on their address in the community? I saw something from 2015, but wasn’t sure if it had been explored further.

We have a church community of regional groups and would love to be able to add folks to groups link “northeast”, “northwest”, etc.

If not, is it something that could even be built in by a programmer? (And do you have suggested programmers?)

Thanks!
Karen

There’s this plugin National Flags - Display user nationality in Discourse. I can’t remember how it works, exactly

That wouldn’t solve our issue, really. But thank you! I was inquiring about automatically adding users to a specific community group based on their location or address they have enetered in WordPress.

In that case, you could pass group names to discourse in the SSO load. You’d need to create the groups in discourse and then add code in WordPress to pass the group name. I’ve done this for group membership for subscriptions.

Thanks, Jay! Can I contact you directly about this, as I am not a programmer. I can cut/paste really well when it comes to code, but not create it from scratch. And since the site is live, I’m wary about doing a lot of “testing”. I’d love to get a quote from you and give you more specifics.

Thanks,

Karen
