Adding a "Filter" button to index page

(Erlend Sogge Heggen) #1

Continuing the discussion from Why was the Popular page chosen as the landing page?:

Whether it’s automatic or not, I think it would be handy to have a simple “Filter” button that’d let you select or deselect (including the ones automatically hidden) the categories you’d like to filter out.

Other handy things could be added to this filter as well, like “Has no replies” for instance.

Edit: Also see this topic about adding new querystrings to accommodate various filters.

Isn’t this covered now by being able to mute categories? This can be done either on your user profile, or on the category page at the upper right.

I like the idea of being able to filter query only options right now in the GUI. Status(es) for example, No Replies, created in the last X hours. Those would be good here that are not available elsewhere.

Right now we are doing stuff like that with querystrings for testing, feel free to propose new “filters” in the querystring topic.
