# Adding File Type Attachments

It is my understanding the Discourse does not allow certain file attachments like PDF, Excel, Word etc. Another cloud based software that I use, uses Discourse as their Community and when I asked why we could not attach these types of files they said they were limited by Discourse.

It is a site setting. I believe the setting is `authorized extensions`
