# Advanced search limited to categories you can reply in

Categorized option doesn’t show the options correctly.

As you can see (hopefully), the “Categorized” search option in the Advanced Search is limited to only what you are allowed to _post_ in. I think you’re supposed to be able to search within what categories you can _look_ in.

@j.jaffeux can you have a look at this, we allow categories to be “read only” by setting it in the security tab.

I think this particular page should ship the list of “allowed read” categories and then use it to populate the dropdown.

I didn’t follow exactly what you said, I think the solution is enough, but I have a limited knowledge of all the category permissions flow. From my tests it seems to work as intended, please let me know if you think I forgot a case.
