# Allow badges in category security settings

Now that we have trigger for badges, should discourse allow badges to be used in category security setting along side with groups?

What i mean was allow those with certain badges to access the category. (Security tab)

I don’t feel comfortable about mixing the two concepts in that way, would feel ok about auto assigning a badge to users that belong to a group, just need to add one more trigger to make it simple.

I thought of badges are some kind of rewards. When users get this, they are allow to access certain part of the forum. Sth like trust levels.

Technically the concepts don’t mesh I only want to look at one spot when checking security.
So either, auto assign user to a group based on badge or auto assign badge based on group.

Auto assign users to group based on badge sounds great. Any tip on where should i start looking in the codebAse?
