# Allow dots in tags

On the Julia Language Discourse, I want to use Julia package names as topic tags. Julia Package names contain dots, like “Foo.jl”. Currently, dots are not allowed in Discourse tags, so I can’t use those package names in tags.
I request that dots be allowed in tags so I can do this.

As a temporary workaround you can use a dash or underscore which should work fine as a delimiter.

It is a surprisingly tricky problem due to routing in both Ember and Rails. I do acknowledge that this is flexibility we should allow some time in future, it is just a very hard change.
