# Allow keyboard short cut 'e' to be used when "selecting" a post via highlight

Continuing the discussion from [Did the 'e' key binding for Edit Post stop working?](https://meta.discourse.org/t/did-the-e-key-binding-for-edit-post-stop-working/185346/7):

Currently, to use the keyboard shortcut to edit your post, you must first select the post using j k for the e.

There should be a way to implicitly select a post if text within it has been highlighted, as with quoting a post. When attempting to use this feature without prior knowledge of how these individual keybindings work, this is how I first tried to edit the post, thinking the function wasn’t working because of the lack of respond upon pressing e.
