# Always allow staff to see the user directory

When the ‘enable user directory’ option is disabled all access to the /users page is blocked. Staff can see users in /admin/users but the columns and sorting isn’t as great as the directory. Could staff be allowed to see the directory regardless of this setting? Or add another option to allow staff?

Not really, the directory being populated depends on the setting, it is a very expensive process keeping it up to date. We can provide a link but it would be broken.

Can you expand on this, why?
