# Anonymizing a banned user?

In one of my installs, I have a banned user.
I’m considering anonymizing them, but I’m not sure if this would delete the current email address and effectively unban them?
If so, is there a way to ban them again?

Hello!
As per [this topic](https://meta.discourse.org/t/anonymizing-users-in-discourse/86929) anonymising users wiped their dats eg their email address.
You can safely anon a suspended user. It won’t unsuspend them.

Okay. So the email address remains registered and the banned user will not be able to open a new account?
