The issue arises from enabling anonymous user feature, but clicking it does nothing. The error log shows validation failed due to email and name checks. KazWolfe shared that their Discourse install blocks emails not from a specific domain and requires names.
sam suggested that the issue might be due to disallowing signups from certain domains, which KazWolfe confirmed. The anonymous user’s email domain changes randomly, causing the problem.
codinghorror proposed making all anonymous users from the same domain, such as example.com. KazWolfe and sam suggested using the same domain as the Discourse install, such as anon.meta.discourse.org. However, sam later found that it’s already using example.com.
The issue is now fixed, as sam committed a change to set the allowed list to anon.YOURSITE.COM, allowing anonymous users to work. KazWolfe can now whitelist example.com to resolve the issue.
its already using example.com it appears so nothing really left to do, I think that is fine for now. @KazWolfe just whitelist example.com and you should be good
