# Any feedback on Akismet?

My site was under a massive spam attack recently. Thanks to @Moin & @HAWK for their quick help, I was able to control the spam to a huge extent.
Now, I’m seriously considering Akismet plugin so my weekends can be peaceful. Any feedback on it? Or would you recommend any other spam control plugins?

Since it auto-flags and all, I’d say it’s quite useful.

Thank you so much for this information.
I will reach out to Akismet soon and ask about their pricing. I see their business pricing is about $500 a year. Are you aware of any other additional costs?
Also, I’m worried about its effectiveness. Are they THAT good?

Example on Meta just yesterday: I saw a topic with some random words with mispellings/random letters. I was about to flag it when the topic disappeared and a banner at the top said that Akismet hid it. When you reload the page, it 404s.
I’d say that it’s certainly quite reliable, although as with any of these kinds of software, there will be some false positives or some that it may miss out on.
