# API Create user external\_ids parameter

I _think_ the way to do this is to post to the `sync_sso` route as described in [Sync DiscourseConnect user data with the sync\_sso route](https://meta.discourse.org/t/sync-discourseconnect-user-data-with-the-sync-sso-route/84398) .

I need to migrate users from another platform and will be investigating that method for creating new users based on their external id. Will circle back here with any useful updates.
