# Are upgrades always beta versions?

Hello. Excuse me for haven’t been watching thoroughly before but, are the upgrades always beta versions? There aren’t stable ones?
I’m a bit worried to execute a beta version and destroy my hard worked forum installation… 😰

If you did a [standard install](https://meta.discourse.org/t/142537?silent=true), you’re on `tests-passed`. Most people are on the beta branch. Stable releases happen about twice a year and lag pretty far behind what is typically discussed here. Unless you’re sure that you have some reason to move to `stable` (which you can’t do until the next stable release), you’re best off staying on `tests-passed` so that a rebuild will get you the most up-to-date code.
