# Asking About Group Chat DM Ownersip

Hi everyone, I’d like to ask about permissions in Discourse group DMs.
Is there a way to check who the group DM owner is? Also, can the group DM creator (or owner) remove members from the group, or is that action limited to admins only?
Currently, it seems that only admins can remove members from a group DM, even if the user is the one who created the group. Just wondering if there’s a setting or plugin that allows non-admin creators to manage group membership more fully.

The first person listed in the **Members** tab is the group creator — “owner” is a title tricky to define because the group chat creator doesn’t really have special privileges over the group. To that point:

No, the group chat creator cannot remove members from the group (unless they are an admin). Otherwise, members need to leave on their own.
Is there a particular situation that you’re running into where more control over the group chat membership would be helpful?
