# Auto focus cursor in search box on mobile

When users tap on magnifying glass on mobile, It would provide a smoother experience if we could auto-focus the cursor in the search box and bring up the keyboard. Any issues with this?

What device/browser? Focus is set properly for me, HTC One M8, Chrome beta.

Same problem on iPad.  
[MusicBrainz community](http://community.metabrainz.org) which is maybe late on version updates, does focus the search field after magnifying glass click. But not meta, here, indeed.

Clicking the search icon automatically places the cursor in the search box on my BlackBerry. My keyboard is always up.

No, it was removed some time ago because iOS has terrible scrolling issues when you auto focus on elements that have fixed positioning. In general any auto focus on fixed items is disabled everywhere on the site.

It does not work that bad if you go to the link I posted earlier, choose a topic with many replies, scroll all the way down then click the magnifying glass.  
It will scroll up and focus text field, keyboard appears.  
I am on iPad though, maybe it does not work on iPhone, any users could test?  
Maybe it bugs when you are all the way down a gigantic topic where the top posts are not loaded?
