Automatically apply grids to image uploads

Auto-gridding crops the images a user uploads rather dramatically, chopping the edges off and turning landscape photos in to portrait photos to the naked eye

While this feature is still in experimental, are there any plans to better support the gridding of landscape orientation photos?
