# Automatically refresh Latest topics on the Categories + Latest page

We’re exploring shifting towards making Categories + Latest the default home page. One thing I just tested was how the Latest stream on that page behaves when new topics are posted. From what I can tell, there is no automatic refresh or indication that a new topic exists like there is on the Latest page.

Is that something that others have felt a need for?

I tried searching for similar topics, but couldn’t find anything…

There is an indicator at the top that shows that new topics are available.

Hmm… I tested all of the following just now and here’s what I found:

In one tab, open each of the following pages. In another, reply to a topic to bump it (I used a topic in the staff category on a production instance to avoid spamming too many people with my test).

- ✅ refresh indicator shows up on main latest page
- ❌ [refresh indicator shows up on categories + latest page](https://meta.discourse.org/t/automatically-refresh-latest-topics-on-the-categories-latest-page/127274)
- ✅ refresh indicator shows up on a category’s topic list page
- ❌ refresh indicator shows up when filtered by tag
- ❌ refresh indicator shows up when filtered by category + tag
