# Automation sends me a PM, even when I supply an email address

I think it should work, but only for email addresses that aren’t already connected to someone’s profile. If you put a ‘new email’ in there it creates a staged user, sends a PM, and then that gets emailed out.

Though you can still have it sent by email as well as receiving the PM if you’re sending to an existing email address.

If you set your ‘Email me when I am sent a personal message’ on your `/preferences/email` page to ‘always’ and then when the scheduled report arrives don’t read the PM for about 20 seconds \[1\] then it should get sent out as an email too.

And then you can adjust your email preference back again if no longer needed.
