# Avatar Cropping

I’m running a forum where avatars serve an important role and many users are not particularly tech-savvy. Enabling users to crop their uploaded avatar images into a square (within Discourse), instead of having it done automatically, would be very helpful. As crazy as it might sound, there are still many folks out there uncomfortable with MS Paint, let alone IrfanView or GIMP.

yeah this is a great idea! because discourse crops it exactly into the middle, some of my users loose details that would have been on either side, which they get anoyed about!

Are there any plugins for image cropping features? I want users to more easily be able to upload and crop pics (not just profile pics).
Similar to instagram would be first prize.
MS paint is no good while using a mobile phone while on the go.
