Backup to another location/mount?

I have a pretty straight forward problem: my backups are 20+ GB, if I try to restore one of them, it gets copied to another “tmp” location and then unpacked and that takes a lot of space, space that I don’t have and I get an error in the middle of unpacking, saying that there is no space left :frowning:

The simplest solution I could think of was mounting an external nfs share or whatever and just moving my backups there and using a symlink but that didn’t work, after I started the app there backup page showed no backups (I checked the permissions, they were correct).

My question: is there a way to make it work with a network share and a symlink or some other way?

Perhaps you can mount a big volume on /tmp?

Sure, but what would that give me? Discourse restore process doesn’t use /tmp as fas as I know…

The symlink you tried didn’t work. Instead of mounting the space somewhere else, maybe mount it right where you need it?

I think @pfaffman meant that you should put the mount where Discourse has it’s temp directory.
