I’m new to Discourse and I’m curious why there are no badges for creating your first topic or answering your first question? Also, what are the +New badges all about?

You generally want badges to be based on other people’s reactions to content, otherwise you are rewarding behavior that may not be a net positive to your community.
In other words, don’t congratulate someone for merely posting, congratulate them for the first post that gets a like…
