Banned users - they should be given a message that they're banned

Right now, it seems that banned users are just not logged in. When I get my account banned and enter my credentials correctly, it just redirects me to the main page, with no information at all. That can and probably will lead to the website’s owner getting spammed with “i cant login, it doesnt do anything please help”. A message like “Your account has been banned by an administrator. The ban (will expire in #|isn’t set to expire).” would be much better I believe.

Reddit does something more insidious. You can log in and post, but no one other than yourself will see your posts.

I suspect the banning system will be updated eventually.

In the meantime, don’t get banned.

Yes that is hellbanning, as explained here:

We probably also want a place for mods to provide a reason for the ban, and possibly a public place to view that, if desired / enabled.

There is a 1 sentence suspension info that is presented to the user on login, and shows on their profile, as of about 8 months ago.

You can also view suspension counts on the user profile.
