# Best way to implement Excerpts in topic list?

So I really want to show some text from the actual post in the Topic List. I really like how it looks, for example, at `community.ycode.com` (it’s Circle), maybe not that extreme - but the excerpt plugin I tried (images in topic lists I guess) wasn’t functioning properly for me, it looks messy. Any help?

AFAIK, the most used options are these :

- You can use two official theme components at the same time : [Topic List Excerpts](https://meta.discourse.org/t/topic-list-excerpts-theme-component/151520) + [Topic List Thumbnails](https://meta.discourse.org/t/topic-list-thumbnails-theme-component/150602)

- Topic List Preview who has a few design options : [Topic List Previews (legacy)](https://meta.discourse.org/t/topic-list-previews/101646)

- Or use the full Theme Fakebook and try to edit the colors/css to adapt in your forum : [Fakebook Theme](https://meta.discourse.org/t/fakebook-a-theme-for-social-media-lovers/109079)
