I feel like you just aren’t hearing the perspective of an administrator. It doesn’t really matter if this is one additional click or ten.
The main role of an admin is keeping the software up to date. Until now entering the admin section the very first thing you see is related to this.
I’m not so lazy that having to make an extra click is some undue burden. It’s about having critical information for my job front and center.
