# Blank entry in recent searches

2. click the ❎ button in the search box

i’ve reproduced this on Meta in Chrome desktop and Safari on iOS desktop view.

1. do a search and view the results list.
2. click the search icon to do another search
3. click the X button

**Platform** :  
I was able to reproduce this on a personal cloud instance (under [safe mode](https://meta.discourse.org/t/53504?silent=true)) and here on Meta. I’m using Chrome Desktop on Windows 11.

**Description** :  
The clear search action is saving an empty entry on the search history. It does not persist after a reload, so it’s a frontend state bug.

**Reproducible steps** :

1. Do a search
2. Hit return key two times to enter the listing page
3. Open the search bar again, it will have your search keywords already
4. Click the X button to clear
5. An empty entry appears in the recent searches list
